ShowOffRankings: Blog Widget To Show Blog Rankings

Ah, wouldn't you want to see how your blog fair in the blogosphere? Surely, one way or another, you must have wondered, at least once or twice, how well (or bad) your blog is doing in the blog world.

Blog Rankings.

This is the key to getting your site noticed on the web. The higher your ranking is, the higher the traffic your blog would mostly likely get. When you say traffic, that would be the amount of visitors and visits your site receives.

How Is This Measured.

There are several tools to use so you can measure your blog's ranking. The most popular ones are Page Rank and Alexa.

Page Rank.

Google page rank is the rank that is given to every website that is indexed by Google. The page rank numbers indicate how important each site is based on a number between zero and 10. A new site starts with a page rank of zero, and the largest, most important sites on the Internet have a 10.Google itself has a page rank of 10 while Yahoo has a nine.Suite101

Alexa Rank.

The Alexa Rank is much like the Google Rank, with one main difference: it is exclusively based on page views, number of users and three months of historical data. SubmitSuite

Aside from the mentioned, there are still other popular tools available like Compete and Technorati.

Compete.

Compete estimates site traffic and engagement metrics based on the daily browsing activity of over 2,000,000 U.S. Internet users. Compete applies a rigorous normalization methodology, leveraging scientific multi-dimensional scaling (by age, income, gender and geography) to ensure metrics are representative of the U.S. Internet population. Compete members are recruited through multiple sources, including ISPs, the Compete Toolbar and additional opt-in panels to ensure a diverse distribution of user types and to facilitate de-biasing across the data sources.Compete

Technorati Authority.

Technorati Authority is the number of blogs linking to a website in the last six months. The higher the number, the more Technorati Authority the blog has. Technorati Blog

NOTE: The PageRank detection algorithm doesn’t work on a lot of servers and is in fact against Google’s Terms of Service. For now, you need to specify your own PageRank. Jon Lee
